The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the heart of Ontario's power system. The IESO delivers key services across the electricity sector including: managing the power system in real-time, planning for the province's future energy needs, enabling conservation and designing a more efficient electricity marketplace to support sector evolution.

Ontario's power system is operating reliably through the COVID-19 outbreak. Please check this site for updates.

                    Coronavirus (COVID-19) update

Ontario’s electricity system is reliable with adequate supply to meet our needs. The IESO has implemented controls to ensure the continued reliable operation of the grid and minimize risks to its employees and stakeholders. Non-essential IESO staff are working from home, and increased hygiene and physil distancing measures are in place to protect remaining on-site employees. The IESO is not accepting visitors at our three facilities, and in-person engagement and meetings are no longer being scheduled. Where possible, meetings and events including engagement activities are being moved to conference lls or webinars. Registration information has been updated on the website to reflect this change.

Thank you for your patience and co-operation. Please contact customer.relations@ if you have any questions.

                    Changes in residential electricity usage

As Ontarians settle into new home routines, electricity demand patterns have also changed to reflect these new habits.

                    New stakeholder engagement framework

In response to stakeholder feedback, the IESO has developed a new framework aimed at enhancing the IESO’s engagement process, creating monthly designated days for engagement meetings. This approach will make it easier for stakeholders to participate and provide greater understanding of the linkages between different engagements.
